What makes Slam Poetry Slam Poetry?
Are there any Slam Poets in the class?
While we're on meter can we talk about how Slam Poetry works and when reading, how pronunciation counts?
I remember at Open Mics there were usually one or two Slam Poets, and they were pretty amazing to listen to. They caught your attention, and used their voices in really interesting ways.

I mean, when I read some things it tends to be more slam-ish. I'm hardly a slam poet though.
Brett,
Do you think Slam Poetry is always intentional?

If someone is performing in a slam setting, I guess it would have to be considered intentional. But people read poems at slams that they compose in other settings and then adapt to the slam mode. If you compose intending your poem to have a performative element, that is that delivery will be, in effect, part of the poem, than that's clearly intentional. This is a great question that gets at the heart of what composition is.
